The Criminal Procedure Law (Detainee Suspected of a Security Offense) (Temporary Provision) (Amendment No. 4), 2015 provides that the validity of the temporary provision, which regulates the powers of investigative authorities in security offenses, in its existing version as amended in 2010, shall be extended for an additional year, that is, until 31 December 2016. The provision regulates, among other things, the authority of investigative bodies to delay bringing a suspect in a security offense before a judge after his arrest, for a maximum period of up to 96 hours; the authority of the court to order the detention of a suspect in a security offense for a period of up to 20 days, if convinced that there is a near-certain possibility of preventing harm to human life; and the authority of the court to hold a hearing on extending the detention of a detainee suspected of a security offense without his presence.
