Official summary of the law (Knesset)

Employers are required to pay National Insurance contributions and health insurance contributions for their employees for two months out of the period during which the employees are on unpaid leave, which imposes a significant burden on employers during this difficult period. The Law establishes, as a temporary provision, an exemption for employers from paying National Insurance contributions and health insurance contributions for employees on unpaid leave. The exemption from payment of insurance contributions will apply to employees who were on unpaid leave for at least one calendar month during the period between 1 April 2020 and 30 April 2021. The Minister of Finance may, by order, extend the said period until 30 June 2021.
