Official summary of the law (Knesset)

The Criminal Procedure Law (Interrogation of Suspects) (Amendment No. 8), 2016 makes permanent the temporary provision exempting interrogations of suspects in security offenses from the obligation to document the interrogation through visual or audio recording. The Law provides that oversight in such cases will be carried out through random inspections, to be determined in the internal procedures of the Israel Police and with the approval of the responsible Minister and the Attorney General. It is further provided that the supervising party must be allowed to conduct oversight and inspection of all ongoing interrogations, at any time, without advance notice and without the knowledge of the interrogators.
