About the law and the debate

Official summary of the law (Knesset)

The amendment to the Law established protection against dismissal for female soldiers in permanent service, during the period in which they undergo in-vitro fertilization treatments and for 150 days thereafter. In addition, protection was established for female or male soldiers in permanent service undergoing fertility treatments, similar to the protection established in the Women's Employment Law for male and female employees. Furthermore, this amendment extended the protection against dismissal, which was given to a female soldier during maternity leave and special leave following childbirth and during the period after returning to service, also to a male soldier in permanent service.
