The Law establishes that the President of the State has the authority to grant leniency regarding two disciplinary measures imposed on a licensed professional (a profession regulated under legislation listed in the Schedule to the Law) following a disciplinary proceeding: A. Suspension of a license to practice the profession for a fixed period – the President is authorized to shorten the suspension period, or to commute the disciplinary measure to another measure specified in the regulating legislation; B. Revocation of a license to practice the profession – the President is authorized to shorten the period that must be waited before a request for renewal of the license may be submitted to the relevant professional body. A request for leniency regarding a disciplinary measure may be submitted to the President only after ten months have passed from the date of the disciplinary conviction. An opinion will also be brought before the President from a person authorized for this purpose by the responsible Minister, from among professional bodies serving a role in licensing or disciplinary adjudication proceedings under the regulating legislation.
