Official summary of the law (Knesset)

The Law expands the powers of the Ethics Committee and allows it, in the case of a severe ethical violation, to deprive a Knesset member of salary for the period or part of the period during which he was removed from Knesset or committee sessions. The salary deprivation shall be for a period of up to two weeks, and the first time salary is deprived from any Knesset member, a unanimous decision of all committee members will be required. In addition, the Law allows the Ethics Committee to determine that in a case where a Knesset member violated the ethics rules and, in doing so, caused damage to Knesset equipment within the Knesset building, the value of the damage, in whole or in part, up to an amount of 5,000 NIS, shall be deducted from his salary. A condition for this is that the damage was caused with the intention of causing damage or that the Knesset member foresaw the occurrence of the damage as a reasonable possibility.
