Section 33 of the Permanent Service in the Israel Defense Forces (Pensions) Law [Consolidated Version], 1985, provided that a person entitled to a retirement pension after retiring from permanent service, who returned to serve in permanent service or began working as an IDF civilian employee, and whose total income from the pension and from the salary for such service or work exceeds the "weighted determining salary" under the Law, will have part of the pension paid to him reduced as long as he has not reached the age of 57. The amendment to the Law provides that the reduction of part of the pension will not apply to a person who retired from permanent service and became an IDF civilian employee, with regard to pensions paid for the period starting from 1 April 2025.
