Official summary of the law (Knesset)

The Law establishes three protections, applying retroactively from 28 February 2026: A. An employer may not dismiss an employee who was compelled to be absent or unable to perform their work due to evacuation from their home as a result of damage caused to the home by an attack, for a period of three months from the date of evacuation, provided that the employee submitted to the employer a confirmation as determined by the Minister of Labor (with respect to Operation Lion's Roar, the required confirmation is from the local authority in whose jurisdiction the home is located). B. During the period of the declaration of a special situation on the home front declared on 28 February 2026, protection against dismissal shall be granted to parents of children up to age 14 (including foster children) whose spouse or the child's other parent is serving as a soldier in regular or career service or in certain other emergency services such as emergency labor service. The Law includes authorization for the Minister of Labor, with the approval of a Knesset committee, to apply this protection also during an additional period if a special situation on the home front affecting such service is declared during it. C. During the period until the end of six months from the end of the validity of the declaration of a special situation on the home front declared on 28 February 2026, the protection against dismissal for a person compelled to be absent from work or unable to perform it due to the closure of their child's educational institution shall also apply when the educational institution is closed by order of the local authority or by the institution itself.
