About the law and the debate
Official summary of the law (Knesset)
The Law authorizes the General Custodian to approve requests by a guardian, an attorney-in-fact or a parent of a minor, which previously required prior court approval as a condition for carrying out the action. The Law establishes that insofar as the matter involves a complex inquiry, an objection to the request arises, or the General Custodian does not deem it appropriate to approve the request, it will be referred for a court decision. In addition, it is determined that the Minister, with the approval of the Knesset Constitution, Law and Justice Committee, may determine types of assets and actions with respect to which the custodian will be authorized to act or represent the minor even without prior approval.
