The law establishes that an annual mental health awareness day will be held in Israel on 10 October, the date on which this day is marked worldwide. This is in order to increase public awareness of the issue, promote recognition of the rights of people coping with mental health conditions, and reduce prejudice against them. This day will be marked, among other places, in the Knesset plenum, at the President's Residence, in the healthcare system, in the Ministry of Welfare and in welfare services at local authorities, in the National Insurance Institute, in the Ministries of Labor, Housing, Justice, Immigration and Absorption, and Culture and Sport; it will also be marked in the courts, in the Israel Defense Forces and the police, in local authorities, and in informal education frameworks. This day will also be marked in the education system, if the Minister of Education decides so. The Minister of Health is responsible for implementing the law.
