Official summary of the law (Knesset)
This law establishes an annual commemorative day to be called "Unity Day", for the purpose of marking and promoting social cohesion and mutual responsibility in Israeli society and among the Jewish people in Israel and the Diaspora. Unity Day will be held every year on the 1st of Sivan, and will be marked, among other things, by the Government, the President's Residence, the Knesset, the education system, activities of the Ministry for Social Equality and Advancement of the Status of Women, the IDF, local authorities through youth unit activities, as well as activities of informal education frameworks and pre-military academies, should they choose to do so. The activities marking Unity Day will be funded from the Ministry of Education's budget, as shall be determined in the annual Budget Law.
