About the law and the debate

Official summary of the law (Knesset)

The Law amends Chapter B of the Counter-Terrorism Law, 2016, so that the Minister of Defense will be able to independently and directly declare a foreign person as a terrorist operative, even without an authorized body outside Israel having previously declared him as such. An expansion was also established to the current definition in the said Law of "terrorist operative", so that a person who takes real part in financing the activity of a declared terrorist organization or in providing means to such an organization, even if not a member of it, will fall within the definition of "terrorist operative". The definition of the term "weapon" was also amended so that the definition will also include a weapon that is not functional.
