The Law to Amend the Police Ordinance (No. 34), 2018 was passed in its second and third readings on 7 March 2018. The Police Ordinance regulates the powers of the police and other bodies during a mass disaster event, defined as "an event causing serious harm to public peace, personal safety or property affecting a large public or a large area, or an event involving a risk of such harm, including due to a natural disaster, an environmental hazard, a hazardous materials incident, a chemical or biological incident, a radiological radiation incident, an accident or hostile terrorist activity." The Law replaced the term "mass disaster event" with the term "civil emergency event."
