Official summary of the law (Knesset)
The Assistance to Sderot and the Western Negev Communities Law (temporary provision) (Amendment No. 6), 2017 (hereinafter – the Amendment), was passed in second and third reading on 24 July 2017. The Amendment provides for the extension of the tax benefits for residents of communities in the southern confrontation line area, according to which a person who was a resident of the area throughout the entire tax year is entitled, in that year, to a tax credit of 20% of their taxable income from personal effort up to an amount of 241,080 new shekels – from 2017 to 2021. It was further provided that the Minister of Finance may determine, with the approval of the Knesset Finance Committee, that the benefit will not apply in a particular fiscal year within the said five years, if convinced that the security circumstances justifying the granting of the tax benefits no longer exist.
