The Law for Amendment of the Traffic Ordinance (Temporary Provision), 2015 (hereinafter - the temporary provision), was passed in second and third reading on 28 December 2015. In the Law for Amendment of the Traffic Ordinance (Amendment No. 111), 2014 (hereinafter - the Amendment), the Traffic Ordinance was amended, and subsection (e) was added to Section 69A of the Traffic Ordinance, which imposed a duty on the licensing authority to note on the driving license renewal form, among other things, the total number of valid points registered against the driver. Several months after the Amendment came into effect, it was discovered that the licensing authority's calculation of the number of valid points registered against a driver was incorrect, and therefore the information sent on the driving license renewal form did not reflect the actual number of valid points registered against the driver. As a result, the licensing authority stopped noting the number of valid points registered against the driver on the driving license renewal form. The temporary provision suspends the obligations imposed on the licensing authority under the aforementioned provision in the Amendment. The suspension shall remain in effect from the date on which the licensing authority actually stopped noting on the driving license renewal form the total number of valid points registered against a license holder, until 31 December 2016.
