The Law requires banks with high profitability to make an annual payment to the State Treasury at a rate of 6% of their profits in Israel, for the period from 1 April 2024 until the end of 2025. The obligation applies to banks whose asset value constitutes at least 5% of the total assets of all banks in Israel. The total payment from all banks shall not exceed 1.2 billion NIS for 2024, and 1.3 billion NIS for 2025. The Minister of Finance is authorized, with the approval of the Finance Committee, to cancel the payment for 2025, if a material change occurs in economic conditions.
