This Law establishes that in cases where the National Supervisor of Foster Care extended a child's stay in emergency foster care by an additional three months pursuant to the provisions of Section 62 of the Foster Care for Children Law, 2016, and the last day of the extension of the stay period as aforesaid falls within a period of three months beginning on 7 October 2023, the National Supervisor of Foster Care will be permitted, in consultation with professional parties and for special reasons to be recorded, to extend the child's stay period in emergency foster care for an additional period not exceeding three additional months. All this without derogating from the duty of the National Supervisor of Foster Care to act with due speed in accordance with the circumstances of the matter.
