About the law and the debate
Official summary of the law (Knesset)
It was determined that the Minister of the Interior, upon the recommendation of the Minister of Defense, shall grant honorary citizenship of the State of Israel to a fallen member of Israel's security forces who, at the time of death, was not an Israeli citizen. It was further determined that if a parent, spouse, child or sibling of a fallen soldier who was granted honorary citizenship submits a request to the Minister of the Interior to revoke it, the Minister of the Interior shall do so such that it will be regarded as if it had never been granted at all.
