The Law includes amendments intended to improve the functioning of the Council for the Regulation of Sports Gambling, a corporation established by law that regulates a significant portion of legal gambling in the country, including updating and improving corporate governance arrangements in light of the nature of the corporation's activity, such as: changing the composition of the public council, expanding it, methods of appointment, eligibility and tenure conditions, and provisions regarding remuneration and expenses, term limits for appointment and tenure of council members and the CEO, conflict of interest arrangements, and authority to examine the criminal and disciplinary background of council members, the corporation's employees, and its licensees. In addition, the Law increases the maximum amount for marketing and operation agreements between the corporation and sports bodies from 46 million to 70 million NIS, and also allows for increasing payments to winners at the expense of funds transferred to the state treasury, for a period of 5 years only.
