This Law regulates, within the framework of the Regulation of Occupations in the Health Professions Law, 2008, two new health professions: A. The health profession of "physician assistant" - whose essence is performing a range of medical actions under the supervision of a specialist physician and pursuant to personal authorization from that physician, in accordance with the provisions of the Physicians Ordinance. The Law establishes the academic education requirements - in the physician assistant profession or in the medicine profession under certain conditions, the practical training and examinations required to obtain a professional certificate, and establishes the arrangements for granting personal authorization and for supervising the work of the physician assistant, as well as additional conditions regarding the physician assistant's activity, and also establishes transitional provisions for those currently employed in Israel as physician assistants.
