About the law and the debate

Official summary of the law (Knesset)

The Law repeals the licensing examination currently required by law for graduates of pharmacy studies in Israel to obtain a license. It also authorizes the establishment, by Regulations, of conditions for obtaining a license to practice pharmacy for holders of an academic degree in pharmacy from outside Israel, taking into account licensing in the foreign country, prior practice as a pharmacist in that country, and supervised practice in Israel. In addition, the director retains the authority to require any person to take any additional examination. The Law further provides that the Minister of Health shall appoint an advisory committee on the licensing of pharmacists.
