The Law was passed in second and third reading on 16 July 2018, and it was established that if a local authority did not include the area of a shading structure in the calculation of the area of a property used for residential purposes for the purpose of imposing municipal property tax (arnona) under its property tax order prior to the commencement of the amendment, it may not include it merely because the shading structure was covered with a transparent plastic covering, provided that the area of the shading structure is limited to uses that may be made of a yard, roof, or balcony of the residential building, excluding use for parking or storage purposes.
