תיקון מס' 9 לחוק חוזה הביטוח, התשמ"א-1981, קובע רף מזערי לפסיקת הריבית המיוחדת לעניין ביטוח סיעודי. נקבע כי מי שמבטח בביטוח סיעודי שלא שילם את תגמולי הביטוח שלא היו שנויים במחלוקת בתום לב במועדים הקבועים, יחויב על ידי בית המשפט בריבית מיוחדת שלא תפחת מפי עשרה מהריבית הקבועה בהגדרה "הפרשי הצמדה וריבית" בחוק פסיקת ריבית, התשכ"א-1961.
