Official summary of the law (Knesset)
This Law determines that, for purposes of eligibility for a study grant from the National Insurance Institute for the children of a single parent, the initiation of legal proceedings in family courts indicating an intention to dissolve the family unit may also be considered an act in a process of release from the bonds of marriage, even if no proceeding has been opened in a religious court. It is proposed that eligibility under the proposed amendment will apply only to claims for a study grant for the academic year beginning on 1 September 2025 onward.
